Is shiny really better than white

Posted February 11th, 2014

Just over 10 years ago DH and I extended our house.

My kitchen doubled in size and because my husband worked in the stainless steel industry much of our kitchen was furnished and furbished with stainless steel.

This brings me to my kettle. My kettle is a white plastic Mistral kettle and I think I picked it up at Coles (for about $12) after the last one (which I permanently borrowed from my parents so was already second hand) finally died.

My kettle has lasted about 4 years so far. The one previous to that I reckon was already a couple of years old and it lasted probably 4 years in total.

Before that I had probably 3 or 4 lovely shiny stainless steel/metal kettles that cost me at least $50 each. They kept getting stained and eventually breaking down.

We had a breakfast nook cabinet installed with the extension and it shuts away the kettle and toaster so we never see the kettle ordinarily anyway.

I figure I will stick with my $12 plastic kettles. All that glitters (or shines) is not necessarily gold (or stainless steel).
