Well life changes fast.
Our purchase of our home in Tasy and the finances of this are going as planned...We are however moving here where we are presently living and working.
Its HOT...not sure if anyone has noticed this. We live in a two story town house...brick with no aircon. If the temp outside gets to thirty the temp in the bedroom is nearing forty. Well we have been hitting nearly forty and soon to hit forty... our portable aircon is struggling in the bedroom and the noise makes it difficult to sleep. I wont explain how difficult life is during the day as I am sure you have all been there. Our rent is high here because of the location and if the owner puts in aircon we have been told the rent will go up. We will not pay more. We have a budget and 'more' is not available because if we have 'more' it goes towards the mortgage.
We are moving .... yay The move will cost us but the savings in rent, in the first year, will not only pay for the move but give us a substantial amount to put towards the mortgage.
We are downsizing to a one and a half bedroom unit with aircon from a three bedroom town house without aircon...our rent goes down dramatically so yay again for the mortgage payments. We get to pay it all off earlier. Our garage will be full of furniture we cant use in the unit but will be taking to Tasmania to us in a few years. This unit is in an area we dont know, we have had no need to venture to this area very much since it was developed.
Yesterday we walked around the area and were very pleasantly surprised at what we found. It is a very pretty area. It was like a different city altogether. It is still in the process of being built and all the buildings are brand new. Our current and past homes have been built around the 1970's and falling apart. It will be a change. What we liked was the large amount of young families, the multicultural atmosphere and the mix of city with country.
I have a work roster for the packing and so far so good, actually we are ahead of schedule and this is something we will need to be as the temperatures will be in the forties this weekend...sigh... I will have a week to travel back to this property to clean it...wont take a week lol. It takes an hour to travel one way from townhouse to unit so I will be trying to get as much done as is possible in one day...I have been cleaning as I go of course and masking taping cupboard doors closed as I finish them...woe betide the person who breaks the seal and dirties the cupboard again.
The house looks like a tip at the moment with packed boxes stacked up ready to go. I look worse.
Downsizing has been our biggest job and will continue at the other home as we empty the garage down to the only items we wish to take to Tasy when we go...
Stay cool everyone. Hope your electricity holds up. I hear Adelaides went out and so did ours yesterday. I think old fashioned rolling blackouts may be the way to go again.
