Notes from the Lakeside

Hello Peoples

An update on where I am ....

After separating from my partner last year, then returning to CQ this year, I moved in with family for a while but realised that I needed to do what I have been wanting to do for the past 12 months - get a place of my own.

And I managed to find a place that will allow me to have my two dogs, is at the end of a street and I can walk straight out into some scrubland and take my dogs for walks :) It's a reasonably newish house, about 5 years old and it overlooks a man-made lake. The lake has black swans and pelicans on it.

I am paying $250/week for the place. I receive about $650/fortnight from Austudy plus I have dividends from my investments and I have enough cash put to one side that it will 'top up' my pay to $1000/fortnight for the next 4 years while I am studying. I will also continue to mystery shop and look for other work during this time. The house lease is for 6 months and I'll see what happens during that time.

I have no TV in the house much to my delight!

I have met a very nice bloke and while it is early days, we get on pretty well :)

I am now at 46 weeks of no booze. I still eat too much foods containing sugar (ice cream has been a particular weakness!) but I can see that as I start to calm down, sleep better and generally get the rest of my health back on track, I will find that I can do away with the processed foods I have been imbibing.

Uni is a bit hard at present as I fell behind then the house move really impacted on me more than I'd realise. But I am working to getting back on top of things and it is really just one step in front of the other, one day at a time.

My plans at present are simply to get this semester finished, keep taking the dogs for a walk twice a day, sell the items I no longer want to keep and work on improving my overall health.

That's about it except to say that I am so glad I returned 'home'.
