A Walk on the wild side/ Hadrian Wall

Posted December 9th, 2017

I told my DH a couple of years ago that I wanted to return to the UK for my 65th birthday which is in Jan 2018. My thought was Sept 2018 for better weather. He hasnt been that keen often saying that we wont be able to afford it or making some plans for 2018. upshot was that i told him we were going regardless.

He then decided that maybe seeing Hadrian Wall would be interesting. He also wanted to do france and Spain as well possiblity Italy, I think he was just putting up things so we really couldn't afford it.We thought that to combine all of that we should put it off until may 2019 only six months further on but longer to save.

He mentioned it to friends when we were in canada and now again while we are in China (friends were also here). They are keen to go also. DF thought we should go May 2018 as we are all getting older, I am the youngest but also probably the least fit of the four.

It had been a whirlwind of organization to pick dates etc that suit all.

We are booked for the walk and deposit paid. Cost for a ten day walk is approx $1000 each includes accom, luggage transferred, breakfasts assistance re the walk.

We are in the process of working out what we are going to do before and after and when we are going to fly into Heathrow.

Europe has been put on hold until 2019 or not at all.

My job now is the get the money together and get fit. So far I havent seen too much of the sites or the accom but the others have, DH is running with it and has had contact with the tour company, I have asked that he sent me all the info as well.

I will be keeping a record of finances and fitness on this blog.

Any thoughts or experiences on this would be appreciated.
