This week Sue Graham has won 12 months membership to the Savings Vault with this great hint:
Compare prices within supermarket
Comparing prices within a supermarket can add up to huge savings. I have noticed a big difference in price between items in the deli and the meat fridge (about 25 metres from each other), noticeably with chicken but also with cold meats and cheese. For example, today in the deli:
Chicken wings $2.99 per kg
Chicken drumsticks $4.59 per kg
Chicken thigh fillets $9.95 per kg
Chicken breast, skin off $10.96 per kg
In the fresh meat fridge, on prepackaged trays (minimum bulk buy of 1.5kg):
Chicken wings $3.98 per kg
Chicken thigh fillets $10.98 per kg
Chicken breast, skin off $12.98 per kg
In the fresh meat fridge, on prepackaged trays:
Chicken drumsticks $3.98 per kg
Chicken thigh fillets $12.99 per kg
Chicken breast, skin off $16.49 per kg
Chicken breast purchased from the deli was cheaper than the fridge area by $5.50 per kilo and worked out $2.00 cheaper than the 1.5kg bulk buy price. So today, the deli is cheaper for the chicken wings, thigh fillets and breast but the drumsticks are cheaper in the meat fridge - all from the same supermarket. This can vary from day to day; some days it is cheaper in the fridge area than the deli. You do have to check every time you go in but you can save heaps, especially if it is on special.
The best way to win a membership is to write helpful, interesting, unique and error free hints. You need to include how much money you saved, how you saved it, what you did and how much you paid. The more detail you provide the more likely you are to win a 12 month membership.
You do not have to answer all the questions to enter the competition. Each hint entered is judged separately. If you send 5 hints. They will be considered 5 separate entries. Which means you have a much higher chance of winning by entering one or two top quality hints than if you entered twenty brief, vague tips. Quality is everything!
If you do not have an answer to a question, or it does not apply to you, please leave it blank.
Thanks for giving it a go. Good luck!
Many grins,
Fiona
